Oplenac, Serbian Cultural Association of Metropolitan Toronto and Mississauga was established in 1986, by a group of enthusiastic parents who wanted to preserve and promote Serbian Culture in their new home, Canada.

Incorporated in 1987, this non-profit cultural association set forth a goal to further enhance Serbian culture and maintain multiculturalism in Canada through folkloric dance and music. The association began with a handful of families and approximately 30 children and by 2004 boasted an enrolment of over 250 children in 8 ensembles and a recreational group of close to 100 dancers.

SCA Oplenac has become a highly recognized and respected club primarily because of the high calibre of its folklore dance ensembles. We take part in many local, national and international festivals and competitions and have won numerous awards including first place at Kiwanis in 2000, 2001, 2003, 2004 and 2009 and first place at the CHIN International picnic in 2001 and 2004. We have also performed at many local events such as Canada day Celebrations and have performed for dignitaries and royalty both locally and abroad.

A high point for Oplenac dancers was when they received an award from the Serbian Government for being one of the best ambassadors for Serbian culture in a foreign country.

In 2003 SCA Oplenac was pleased to purchase a property at 895 Rangeview Rd. in Mississauga to call home. By purchasing our own facility Oplenac could now offer more to its members and dancers. Along with a rich dance program the club can now provide a varied music program, drama section, yoga, chess, table tennis, basketball and many other opportunities. The facility is continually being improved to meet our growing needs and as finances allow. We are extremely thankful to all our members, parents, friends and sponsors who have made this possible. None of this would have been possible without the generous gifts of time, free labour and financial assistance of our supporters.

SCA Oplenac is a member of the Community Folk Art Council of Metropolitan Toronto, the Folk Art Council of Mississauga as well as the C.I.O.F.F.
