Folklore was first and base activity in Oplenac since inception and first begginings. Folklore is still most important part of our identity, and promotion of Serbian folk dancing and singing are in the centre of interest of all our members. Our students are children of all ages and adults. They are organised in age groups, and from early childhood, they learn basic steps of Serbian dancing, so that as they grow, they can join our reserve ensemble, nd later representative ensemble of Oplenac. Our smallest dancers are at age of three, and they are performing on all major events of the Association, as well as on Annual Concerts.

Oplenac has also combined folklore and drama to create the first Serbian musical with exquisite and stunning costumes, that presents our culture and tradition throughout the centuries.

The President of Serbia-Montenegro acknowledged SCA Oplenac with the highest recognition for preserving the Serbian culture and reaching out to the Serbian community. We are honoured for receiving this merit and are proud to be categorized with some of most famous folk dance ensembles in Serbia such as "Kolo", "Krsmanac", "Abrasevic", "Spanac" and "Sonja Marinkovic".
